The Indiana Pacers continue at the top of the TSN.ca NBA Power Rankings, a spot they havent relinquished since the start of the regular season. Just behind Indiana, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers. Moving up this week, the San Antonio Spurs won three straight and, getting a few bodies back from injury, moved from 10 to seven. Further down the list, the Orlando Magic are healthy and went 2-2 last week, which was enough to vault from 29 to 24. Sometimes it doesnt take a lot to move among the bottom-tier teams. Heading the other way, the Los Angeles Clippers lost three of four and shooting guard J.J. Redick is hurt again, so they fall from seven to 10, effectively flipping spots with the Spurs. The Memphis Grizzlies sunk from 12 to 17 after back-to-back losses and, more importantly, an injury to point guard Mike Conley. The Toronto Raptors split their four games last week, but it was enough to hold their ninth-place ranking. Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up. . Greece was on the wrong end of a 3-0 rout to Colombia in its first game of the tournament. They surrendered a goal in just the sixth minute of the contest, and despite some promising attacking play, failed to crawl back into the match. Japan, on the other hand, struck first in its match with Ivory Coast, with Keisuke Honda putting his side into the lead in the 16th minute.LONDON -- West Ham striker Andy Carroll has lost his appeal against a three-match ban for violent conduct following his red card against Swansea. The Football Association says that an independent panel rejected Carrolls claim of wrongful dismissal, and the ban will take immediate effect. Carroll was shown a straight red card just before the hour mark on Saturday when his flailing arm caught Swansea defender Chico Flores on the head in West Hams 2-0 victory.dddddddddddd The FA said in a statement that the panel had to "apply the test of whether the decision to dismiss a player was an obvious error." Carroll, who set up both goals on Saturday, will now miss Premier League matches at Aston Villa and against Norwich and Southampton. ' ' ' |
