TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed general manager Steve Yzerman to a four-year contract extension. The Lightning have made the playoffs twice in four seasons under Yzermans watch, reaching the Eastern Conference Final in 2011. Tampa Bay has already qualified for this seasons playoffs and is currently in third place in the Atlantic Division. "Im grateful for the opportunity to continue the process we started four years ago and would like to thank (owner) Jeff Vinik for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading the Tampa Bay Lightning," Yzerman said in a statement. "Im very excited about what lies ahead for our organization and truly enjoy working with a fantastic group of people in Tampa Bay." Yzerman, who has one year remaining on his initial contract with Tampa Bay, also served as general manger of Canadas gold-winning Olympic mens hockey teams in 2010 and 2014. Yzerman spent 27 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings as a player, captain and front-office executive prior to joining the Lightning. The Hall of Famer ranks sixth in NHL history with 1,755 career points. He is a four-time Stanley Cup Champion, winning three as a player in 1997, 1998 and 2002 and another as a member of Detroits management team in 2008. "Since the day Steve agreed to serve as our vice president and general manager, he has worked tirelessly to transform our hockey department and establish the groundwork for sustained success", Vinik said. "We are very pleased with Steves job performance thus far, and I am fully confident Steve remains the right person to continue to lead us." The Lightning also announced Monday that Steve Griggs has been promoted to president. Griggs had served as the teams chief operating officer since 2010. He also spent six years in various roles with Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment. . James Harden wasnt worried and told his coach as much. "He was fired up but I told him: Its OK. Were going to be all right," Harden said. And they were. Houston scored 17 straight points after that timeout, led by 10 from Harden, to take the lead and roll to an easy 129-106 win. . Kyle Shanahan was hired as offensive co-ordinator Monday after spending the previous four years in the same role with the Washington Redskins. http://www.wholesalenikeshoesclearance. ... shoes.html. LOUIS -- The Atlanta Braves used a two-run rally in the ninth to end their road trip with a win. . Prado stuck his glove down with Colorados Charlie Blackmon sliding into the bag, and quickly jumped back in pain after applying the tag. Prado held his left wrist as trainers came out of the Diamondbacks dugout to check him. . Josh Bailey had a goal and an assist as the New York Islanders earned a 2-1 win over Ottawa Wednesday, leaving the Senators five points out of a playoff spot with just five games to play and four teams ahead of them.Chilean searchers on Tuesday found the bodies of two professional skiers, including a Canadian, who had been missing since an avalanche swept them away while they were hiking in the countrys south. The Associated Press reported from Santiago that the remains of Canadian Jean Philippe Auclair and Swedens Carl Andreas Fransson were spotted by a helicopter around noon in bordering Argentina during a joint rescue operation by Chilean police and the armed forces.Armada Skis, a company in California, confirmed to The Canadian Press that one of the missing hikers was the firms co-founder, Quebec freeskier JP Auclair, but offered no further comment pending permission from his family.Auclairs biography on the Armada web site describes him as a prize-winning skier and filmmaker who found a way to combine his two passions. It also said he had obtained Level One certification in avalanche operations through the Canadian Avalanche Association in 2009.In an interview posted on the site, Auclair recalled meeting Fransson for the first time and deciding to join forces. He had lots to teach me and I had a lot to learn from skiing with him, Auclair said.Every year, we try to make a bit of time to ski together, but it was always hard with conflicts of schedule and trips. This year, we decided to do something more official and decided to dedicate time to ski together every year, he said.We want to ski our ultimate dream locations in the world. He’s a certified guide, so we can go anywhere. That’s his contribution to the partnership and I’m in charge of everything creative from editing to how the project will look and feel. Our goal is to have a really fun project, hang out together, and make a really low key, low energy project.Auclair also said his approach tto his work changed after he became a father.dddddddddddd.Now, I double, triple check and do my homework a lot more thoroughly. The factors that I’m not aware of, I want to make sure it’s dialled before jumping into the unknown. The grim news prompted an outpouring of grief from the ski industry and the pairs fans. The Canadian Freestyle Ski Association said on Twitter it was shocked & deeply saddened by Auclairs sudden death. He was a legendary skier & his presence in the sport will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time, the organization said.Olympic skier Jenn Heil was one of several professional athletes expressing their grief online. With heavy hearts we say goodbye to @AuclairJP You were a bright light who changed the face of skiing.
