Jaguars sign TE Donnie ErnsbergerNew,12commentsEDTThe Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed tight end Donnie Ernsberger to their 90-man active roster. To make room on the roster , the Jaguars waived/injured rookie tight end Michael Colubiale (concussion protocol). Colubiale will revert to the team’s reserve/injured list if he clears waivers.Ernsberger attended Western Michigan and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent Weeks 13-15 on the Buccaneers’ practice squad and played in Tampa Bay’s final two games of the regular season.A native of Battle Creek, Michigan , Ernsberger played for Western Michigan from 2014-2017 as a fullback and tight end. As a senior, Ernsberger caught 34 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns and was named second-team All-MAC. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell said he is willing to restructure his contract to create more cap space for the team , according to John Reid of Jacksonville.com.鈥矷 think it’s more with restructuring with an extension,鈥?Campbell said after Wednesday’s Pro Bowl. 鈥砊hat’s the only way to do it and that’s something that was talked about that could possibly happen.鈥矯ampbell signed a four-year , $60 million free agent contract in 2017 and will count $14.5 million against the Jaguars’ salary cap in 2019. That’s the fifth highest on the team. If he’s able to restructure and give the team even a little bit more wiggle room it could help them immensely. After two seasons of double-digit sacks, including an All-Pro year of 14.5 sacks in 2017 and a Pro Bowl nod after 10.5 sacks in 2018 , Campbell doesn’t have to restructure his contract. He’s definitely lived up to it. But if he restructures it would go a long way towards the team taking advantage of a window that is closing fast on this defense.
