The Jaguars are expected to give second-round pick Jawaan Taylor every opportunity to win the starting right tackle job. But free agent Cedric Ogbuehi is taking all the first-team reps at the position in the team’s organized team activities.Unprompted , offensive coordinator John DeFilippo praised Ogbuehi’s work this week. “Cedric Ogbuehi is moving really, really well right now and playing well,” DeFilippo said, via Daniel Popper of TheAthletic.com. “Guys like that, I don’t want to say surprised you because I saw what he did on tape. It wasn’t really surprising, but it’s been pleasant to see his athleticism.” The Bengals made Ogbuehi a first-round draft choice in 2015, and he started 25 of the 35 games he played in four seasons. Twelve of his starts were at right tackle.His competition — Will Richardson, a fourth-round pick last year who injured his knee in October, and Taylor — have combined for zero NFL snaps. Coming off of a disappointing loss to the division rival Tennessee Titans, the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) look to rebound against the New York Jets (1-2). That means it is time to review the head-to-head history between the two franchises. The history recap is pretty intriguing this week, as these two teams aren’t extremely familiar with each other, but have met 13 times previously. It’s been a series of runs in terms of wins. The first four meetings saw a two-to-two win split, but the Jags then won four of the following five games, and the Jets have now taken the last four meetings. So it seems to be a series of streaks, or periods of time where one team is dominating the other. Bortles completed just 42 percent of his passes and threw a costly pick late in the third quarter that led to a field goal for the Jets. Myles Jack breathed new life into the Jags with an 81-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Jason Myers (now a Jet) tied the game at 20 and forced overtime. Jacksonville held Chris Ivory and the New York rushing attack to 29 rushing yards on 28 attempts (1.03 yards per carry). But in typical 2015 Jaguars fashion, they turned the ball over four times — Blake Bortles had three of which , throwing two interceptions and fumbling twice (losing one). The Jets were able to capitalize and walked away with the victory. Series By Decade: 1990s: Series tied 2-2 (one playoff win for Jets)2000-2010: Jaguars dominated 4-12011-Present: Jets have dominated 4-0Quick thoughts: We saw a couple of close, competitive matchups in the ‘90s, followed by Jacksonville owning New York throughout the first decade of the 2000s, and currently the Jets have Jacksonville’s number. More than half of the games in the series have been decided by seven points or less. Only four games were decided by 14 points or more. The Jaguars outscored the Jets 129 to 58 in the five meetings during the 2000s. The Jets have outscored the Jaguars 100-56 during their current four-game winning streak. On paper, the Jaguars should destroy the Jets with rookie quarterback Sam Darnold playing against this vaunted defense. But it was New York’s rushing attack that was too much for Jacksonville to handle last season. The Jags, while still not great against the rush, have vastly improved in that area since last year’s game against the Jets.
