World swimmings governing body has confirmed seven Russian swimmers are ineligible for Rio de Janeiro under the International Olympic Committees latest guidelines. The IOC opted against a blanket ban on Russian athletes competing at next months Games but issued a set of strict criteria each individual sport must apply to the countrys team members.No Russian with a doping sanction on their record will be allowed to compete, and the same goes for any of the countrys athletes whose samples were highlighted in Richard McLarens recent, damning report into state-sponsored doping. As a result FINA has confirmed the names of seven Russians who will not now be going to Brazil.Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Yulia Efimova, Natalia Lovtcova and Anastasia Krapivina have been withdrawn by the Russian Olympic Committee under the first rule while Nikita Lobintsev, Vladimir Morozov and Daria Ustinova were all referenced in the McLaren report.Efimova will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.A FINA statement also said it had decided to re-test all the samples of Russian athletes collected at the Kazan 2015 World Championships.Tennis on Sunday became the first sport to clear its Russian competitors for Rio, although all athletes must still have their places upheld by an expert from the Court of Arbitration for sports list of independent arbitrators.
