Financial terms were not released by the team, but TSN.ca reported the contract has an average annual value of $7.5 million. Spezza was acquired from the Ottawa Senators in a trade on July 1 and has posted four goals and 14 assists in 20 games this season. He could have become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
