Des Moines, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Looking to extend a five-game win streak, the 13th-ranked Iowa State Cyclones will clash with the Drake Bulldogs in the Hy-Vee Big Four Classic at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday. Iowa State enters the contest sporting an 8-1 record on the season, which has earned the team the No. 13 spot in the nation. The Cyclones have won five games in a row since a 72-63 loss to Maryland back in late November, which includes an 88-78 victory over Southern in the teams most recent outing. Drake also took on a SWAC team in its most recent contest. The Bulldogs used a 76-66 victory over Jackson State to snap a five-game losing streak, which dated back to November. The Bulldogs only have two wins on the entire year. These two in-state rivals have met well over 100 times on the basketball court. The Cyclones hold the all-time series lead, 107-65, which includes a 1-0 mark on neutral-site floors. Iowa State has faced Drake more than any other non-conference opponent. For a team with just two wins going up against a ranked Iowa State team, Southern performed relatively well in the 10-point loss. Iowa State was better, though, shooting 52.8 percent from the field and making 29-of-33 from the free-throw line in the contest. Bryce Dejean-Jones and Georges Niang each scored 18 points to lead the Cyclones, while Monte Morris contributed 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Naz Long added 13 points in the win, and Dustin Hogue chipped in with 10 and seven rebounds. Niang leads a group of five Iowa State players in double-digit scoring this season, netting 17.8 ppg on 50.5 percent shooting. Dejean-Jones is close behind Niangs total, averaging 17.3 ppg with a team-best 6.8 rpg. Long (12.8 ppg), Hogue (11.6 ppg) and Morris (11.2 ppg) round out the teams deep list of scoring threats. The Cyclones have been absolutely dominant offensively, netting 84.8 ppg on 50.2 percent shooting as a unit, while the defense limits teams to 70.1 ppg this season. Drake desperately needed a win over Jackson State to get back on track. They did just that on 46.2 percent shooting, adding in a whopping 34- of-41 mark from the free-throw line against the Tigers. Reed Timmer scored 19 points to pace the Bulldogs, hitting a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. Jacob Enevold netted 17 points with eight rebounds, Chris Caird chipped in 14 points and Gary Ricks contributed 11 with seven rebounds and five assists in the winning effort. Ricks started the season on Drakes suspended list, but since returning to the team seven games ago, hes been a consistent contributor. The guard is averaging 11.7 ppg to lead the team on 46 percent shooting, adding in six steals and a 3.4 rpg mark to his resume. Timmer is the only other Bulldog to average a double-digit point total, netting 11.0 ppg with a team-best 29 assists. Drake is netting 61.8 ppg as a team, but has struggled to contain anyone defensively, allowing 70.6 ppg on 47.9 percent shooting. . -- The Detroit Lions made it crystal clear to Golden Tate that he was their top target in free agency. . LOUIS -- The Tampa Bay Rays have placed right-handed pitcher Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list with an undisclosed illness. http://www.metsrookiestore.com/Mets-Jos ... ds-Jersey/. Already owning gold from competition in Vancouver in 2010, Loch posted a combined four-run time of 3:27.526. That included a track-record third run of 51. . A spokeswoman for the NLRB says its "a very incremental move" and does not necessarily indicate the board is close to a finding in the case. NFL owners filed an unfair labour charge against the players union in February, arguing that the union was not negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement in good faith. . Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points, Shawn Marion had 22 and the Mavericks beat undermanned Philadelphia 124-112 Friday night, handing the 76ers their 10th straight loss.Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rookie Ty Dillon became a first-time race winner in the Nationwide Series after passing Kyle Busch for the lead late in the race and then holding off Busch in the closing laps in Saturdays Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Dillon, the 22-year-old grandson of NASCAR multi-team owner Richard Childress and younger brother of Sprint Cup Series rookie Austin Dillon, pulled ahead of Busch and took the lead for the first time following a restart on lap 77. The driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing ran in front for the final 24 laps around this historic 2.5-mile racetrack to claim his maiden win in Nationwide, which occurred in his 31st career start. When you got the best guy in the business [Busch] behind you, its tough, Dillon said. Its tough to stay focused and not give up. Dillon also collected a $100,000 bonus from series title sponsor Nationwide Insurance for being the highest finisher among the four drivers eligible for the Dash 4 Cash at Indianapolis. The emotions are incredible, he said. I came here [to Indy] two years ago and finished third in my second Nationwide race ever. Theres just something about this place that feels right to me. I feel comfortable. I dont know what it is. But the main thing was [crew chief] Danny Stockman Jr. gave me a car that I felt like I could go out there and win with from the moment we unloaded. He put me in a position to win, and we did it. I wasnt going to let this thing go. I wasnt going to let it slip. My guys have gone through some hard stuff this year, and they havent given up on me. So I was definitely going to give them all I had. Dillon had scored 11 top-10 finishes in the first 17 Nationwide races in 2014 but had not posted a top-five run this season until last weekends event at Chicagoland. It was really cool to see him win, Childress said of his grandsons victory at Indianapolis. Hes had a tough year this year. Hes hhad some close runs.dddddddddddd But to come up here and win at Indy and race with the guys that he was racing with, it was a great day for RCR, Ty Dillon and the whole family. Dillon competed in the Camping World Truck Series full-time from 2012-13, winning three races. He graduated to Nationwide this season, replacing his brother in the No. 3 car for RCR. Austin Dillon won last years Nationwide championship and then moved on to Sprint Cup competition. Busch, a Sprint Cup regular and winner of the 2013 Nationwide race at Indy, tried to catch Dillon during the final laps but came up 0.8 seconds short at the finish. Busch started on the pole and led just 10 laps in this event. In last years race here, he started first and led 92 of 100 laps. Its unfortunate that we werent as good as we were last year, Busch said. I thought we were, but we werent. Maybe it was the cloud cover today, or whatever. I dont know. Felt that we would be better than that, and we just werent. There at the end, I had a restart and couldnt get through turn 1. Just slipped. I dont know what happened. [Dillon] just drove right by me. That was it. That was the race. Sprint Cup regulars Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Paul Menard finished third through sixth, respectively. Harvick led the most laps with 33. Rookie Chase Elliott, who won at Chicagoland, Trevor Bayne and Brian Scott were the other drivers qualified for the Dash 4 Cash at Indianapolis. Scott, the winner of the bonus at Chicagoland, finished seventh. Bayne placed ninth, and Elliott was 12th. Dillon, Scott, Bayne and Regan Smith qualified for the fourth and final round in the Dash 4 Cash, which is the Aug. 2 race at Iowa. Elliott remained atop the championship standings, but Smith moved to within four points of his JR Motorsports teammate following his 10th-place finish at Indy. Elliott Sadler placed 15th and fell 11 points behind. Dillon is now 15 points out of the lead. ' ' '
