BOSTON -- Kole Calhoun leaped at the low right-field fence to take a three-run homer away from Brock Holt in the second inning. "Game-changer," Angels teammate Chris Iannetta said. "It was awesome." Seven innings later, Iannetta delivered the tiebreaker with an RBI double that sent Los Angeles over the Boston Red Sox 4-3 on Tuesday night. Brennan Boesch had a ground-rule double with two outs off closer Koji Uehara (5-3) for the Angels first hit since the fourth. Iannetta then hit the ball off the end of his bat off the left-field wall, just above the leap of Daniel Nava. But Calhouns grab in front of his teams bullpen was the major topic in the Angels clubhouse. "We go from being potentially down three or four runs to having the opportunity to take the lead," Iannetta said. Down 1-0 on David Ortizs 29th homer in the first, the Angels went ahead with three runs in the third. "This games a lot about momentum swings," Calhoun said, "and thats a big one right there." Joe Smith (5-1) got the win for the AL West leaders and Huston Street recorded his 34th save. Boston rookie centre fielder Mookie Betts, a second baseman in the minors, also took away a potential home run when he ran down Josh Hamiltons drive in the first in deep right-centre field. "Every game played in centre field is going to be a positive experience for him, given that hes gone through a positional change," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. The Angels took a 3-1 lead with four consecutive hits, starting with a double by Iannetta. The next three hits all drove in runs -- a single by Calhoun, a triple by Mike Trout and a single by Albert Pujols. Pujols originally was ruled out for the second out of the inning on Will Middlebrooks throw after the third basemans diving backhand stop. The call was overturned on replay, but Trout would have scored anyway on his headfirst slide into home. Jered Weavers wildness led to Bostons next two runs that tied it at 3 after six innings. In the fifth, Dustin Pedroia singled, Ortiz walked and both advanced on a wild pitch. Pedroia scored on Mike Napolis groundout. Xander Bogaerts began the sixth with a walk, took third on a single by Christian Vazquez and scored on a sacrifice fly by Holt. TRAINERS ROOM Angels: LHP Joe Thatcher isnt expected to return from the disabled list as hoped by Friday for the start of a three-game series with Oakland. He has been sidelined since Aug. 3 with a sprained left ankle. Red Sox: Middlebrooks left the game in the fourth with right hamstring tightness. Kelly Johnson pinch-ran after Middlebrooks was hurt while beating out a grounder to shortstop for a single. ... C David Ross is expected to be activated Wednesday after going on the disabled list with right plantar fasciitis. UP NEXT Angels: RHP Garrett Richards (13-4, 2.53) pitches in the third game of the series Wednesday night. He won his last three games, including a complete-game shutout against the Los Angeles Dodgers and a 5-4 victory over the Red Sox. Red Sox: RHP Clay Buchholz (5-7, 5.79) has a 3.00 ERA in his last two starts after a 9.00 ERA in his previous four, a stretch that followed an 11-0 complete-game win over Houston. WISE WALK With a runner at second and two outs in the ninth, Street walked Ortiz intentionally then struck out Napoli. "Both guys are going to hit a mistake and Huston didnt make any," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. Ortiz leads the majors with 91 RBIs. WEB GEM Red Sox rookie starter Allen Webster pitched six solid innings, retiring his last five batters and allowing runs in just one inning. Hes in the regular rotation after Boston traded four starters last month. "I feel pretty confident right now on the mound," he said. HAMILTON RETURNS Josh Hamilton went 0 for 3 and was hit by a pitch after sitting out two games following a 10-game stretch in which he went 5 for 38 with 18 strikeouts. He took extra work before the game with hitting coaches Don Baylor and Dave Hansen. "Hes going to have to figure it out," Scioscia said. "Hes not going to figure it out sitting." .A caravan greeted the former Boston Red Sox pitcher at the airport and took him to a public park in Santo Domingo, where a crowd lined a 19-mile stretch of highway to catch a glimpse of him.Once at the park, Martinez went on stage accompanied by players David Ortiz and Robinson Cano as merengue music played and fireworks lit up the sky. . I kept my eyes focused up on the camera during each approach. I just tried to stay focused on my form, as I didnt know what the ball reaction was. I was quite emotional at the end. I did not actually see any of the shots in the game until I got home and watched the video. http://www.cheap49ersjerseysonline.com/ ... sey-online. - John Elways philosophy is to address immediate needs in free agency, even though some of his own veterans may prove too pricey to keep around. . The Vancouver coach and an announced sellout crowd of 18,910 watched in dismay as the Canucks lost 7-4 to the New York Islanders on Monday night by squandering a 3-0 lead in the third period. . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers (4) – He had a strong game Sunday; was very good in tight with big saves on Crosby, Malkin and Neal in-crease.SARASOTA, Fla. - Chris Davis hit a two-run double, scoring Nelson Cruz in his Orioles debut in Baltimores 9-7 win over to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Cruz, who signed with the Orioles on Monday, walked and scored from first on Davis double. Manager Buck Showalter was eager to get Cruz, who batted second and was the designated hitter, into the lineup. Cruz signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the Orioles. "It doesnt feel like butterflies or anything. Buck asked me if I was nervous. I feel normal, I guess, as soon as I come out to the field. Its something I havent done for a while. It comes natural," Cruz said. In his first game of the spring, Davis, who led the majors with 53 home runs last season, was 1 for 3 with the opposite-field double. Davis was glad to play again with Cruz. The two were teammates in Texas. "Like clockwork. I was glad to see him work an at-bat like that. I think thats kind of where were all at after the first few days. Get in there, see some pitches. You just cant simulate this stuff. Youve got to be out there, youve got to turn on the competition again, and I felt good," Davis said. Toronto starter Drew Hutchison, battling for the fifth starters job, struck out four in throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Miguel Gonzalez gave up one run on three hits in two innings for Baltimore. The Orioles overcame a 7-2 deficit when they scored seven runs in the eighth. The big hits were a three-run triple by Francisco Peguero and a two-run single by Xavier Paul. Peguero, who signed with Baltimore in December, began the inning with a single. STARTING TIME Blue Jays: Hutchison must beat out Todd Redmond and Esmil Rogers to make the staff. "I dont really know where my velocity was today," Hutchison said..dddddddddddd "I was more worried about throwing strikes and being crisp. The only thing, I got into a couple of deep counts, but other than that, it was a good day." Orioles: Gonzalez, who has a starting spot for Baltimore secured, is pitching as if he wasnt already guaranteed a job. "Youve still got to go out there and perform. You cant take it easy, no matter what. I think theres guys out there that want our position, so weve got to keep doing our work," Gonzalez said. TRAINERS ROOM Orioles: Outfielder Henry Urrutia will miss at least two days with a sore right shoulder. . Outfielder Quintin Berry, who had been sidelined with back spasms, pinch ran in the eighth inning and scored a run. Blue Jays: Pitcher Casey Janssen has a tender right shoulder, but its not considered serious, manager John Gibbons said. . Third baseman Brett Lawrie (hamstring) and outfielder Edwin Encarnacion (wrist) didnt make the trip, but their absences were precautionary, Gibbons said. LOOKING AHEAD Showalter said that right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez would make his first start against Philadelphia on Friday. Jimenez has yet to appear since he was signed to a four-year, $50 million contract late last month. . Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, a Baltimore minor leaguer, will play in the Orioles game against Boston in Fort Myers on Sunday. Hes the grandson of Red Sox Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. HONORING BARLOW A number of Baltimore players wore wristbands honouring Monica Barlow, the teams director of public relations, who died of cancer on Friday at 36. "She just helped me a lot with making the right decisions and doing things that not just helped me, but helped the team instead of just doing things just for the sake of doing them," outfielder Adam Jones said.
