MIAMI -- With a lot of muscle and a little body English, Garrett Jones finally beat the Chicago Cubs shift by clearing it. Jones hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning Tuesday night, and the Miami Marlins rallied to beat Chicago 6-5. Jones had been 0 for 9 in the series against the Cubs, who deployed three infielders to the right of second base against the left-handed hitter. "The shift has taken away some hits," Jones said. "It has frustrated me a little bit mentally, chasing some balls out of the strike zone trying to make something happen. That last at-bat, I just squared it up and wasnt worried about the shift, and was able to get it out." Jones one-out drive hit the top of the wall and bounced into the bullpen for his ninth home run, but his first since May 23. "I was getting up on my tiptoes, wishing it would go over, and it did," he said. Adeiny Hechavarria started the seventh with a bunt single for his fourth hit. Rafael Furcal had a two-out, two-run single in the fourth for his first RBIs since 2012. Hard-luck Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija allowed three runs, two earned, in six innings but again was denied a victory. The Cubs are 4-11 when he starts even though his ERA is 2.78. "Thats the way it goes," Samardzija said. "I go out and pitch and keep doing my job and making improvements. I battled, and I liked the way I finished. I made some good adjustments and finished strong." Luis Valbuenas RBI double in the seventh gave Chicago a 4-3 lead and left Samardzija in line for only his third win. But Miami rallied against Brian Schlitter (2-2). Cubs manager Rick Renteria left the right-hander in the game to face Jones, rather than going with lefty Wesley Wright. "I was 99 per cent convinced Wright was coming in," Jones said. Renteria said he opted for Schlitter against Jones rather than bringing in Wright to face pinch-hitter Jeff Baker. "It was pick my poison," Renteria said. "Schlitt just left the pitch up. Thats obviously not what he wanted to do." Junior Lake hit his ninth homer, and third in five games against the Marlins this year, but the Cubs went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. The Marlins were 2 for 13. Miami, which leads the majors in home victories, improved to 24-14 at Marlins Park. Marlins rookie Anthony DeSclafani, recalled from the minors Monday, gave up four runs in 6 1-3 innings. Sam Dyson (1-0) pitched 1 1-3 scoreless innings for his first career win, then was optioned after the game -- as expected -- to Triple-A New Orleans. "We gave him the scorecard," manager Mike Redmond said. "He was pretty fired up about that." Steve Cishek gave up a run in the ninth on Justin Ruggianos sacrifice fly before striking out Anthony Rizzo with the bases empty to earn his 16th save in 17 chances. Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who came into the game leading the NL in home runs and RBIs, went 0 for 4 and stranded five runners. Miami scored an unearned run in the first when the Cubs tried to turn a 3-6-1 double play, and shortstop Starlin Castros errant throw allowed Furcal to come home from third. Furcal returned last week after being sidelined since the end of the 2012 season because of injuries. In the second inning, Lake hit a two-run homer to put the Cubs ahead. Darwin Barney and Eli Whiteside pulled off a double steal -- the first stolen base for each -- and Samardzija followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. NOTES: Furcal returned to the lineup after sitting out a game to rest a swollen left knee. ... The ballparks retractable roof was closed when a thunderstorm with 50 mph winds passed by in the seventh inning. ... Marlins C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) caught eight innings in a minor league rehab game Monday and might rejoin the team this weekend. ... Castro hit his 20th double. ... RHP Bryan Morris has yet to allow a run in 9 1-3 innings since being traded to the Marlins. ... Miami RHP Chris Hatcher has recorded 12 of his past 13 outs by strikeout. ... Marlins RHP Nathan Eovaldi (4-2, 3.71 ERA), who was on paternity leave for the birth of his first child, faces Cubs RHP Jake Arrieta (2-1, 2.09) on Wednesday. .com) - It may just be the right place and the right opponent for the Detroit Red Wings to snap their longest losing streak of the season. . First-half goals by Will Bruin and Oscar Boniek Garcia sucked the life out of the Impact as the Houston Dynamo bounced them from Major League Soccers post-season with a 3-0 victory on Thursday. http://www.cheapuclajerseys.com/?tag=uc ... ege-jersey. Just ask last seasons Supporters Shield winners, the New York Red Bulls, who were resoundingly defeated last weekend by a rampant Vancouver Whitecaps in a match which produced two contenders for MLS Goal of the Week from Sebastian Fernandez and Pedro Morales. . The Oilers have been shut out in three straight home games and are in last place in the Western Conference with a 4-14-2 record. "Things have obviously not gone as well as I would have thought probable. . Needing to bulk up on both sides of the line, the Falcons agreed to terms with guard Jon Asamoah, defensive end Tyson Jackson and defensive tackle Paul Soliai. Weve pitched Fantasy Football Clubs Paul Merson against Saints legend Matt Le Tissier for Sky Sports Fantasy Six-a-Side, with this weeks fixture being Leicester v Southampton. The usual £10,000 is up for grabs in the free-to-play game as the Foxes look to take a step closer to the Premier League title, live on Sky Sports 1HD at 12.30pm. To help with your selections weve called upon two men who know their stuff, with Merson bringing his Fantasy Football Club insight, while Le Tiss offers his unbiased views on the Saints chances. Fantasy Six-a-Side Pick your team here for the chance to win the £10,000 jackpot. With no player values, formations or position requirements in Sky Sports Fantasy Six-a-Side, the pundits can pick whoever they want except for only one of the four Elite Players, who are Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, Graziano Pelle and Saido Mane this week.Heres who they have gone for... Mersons VIRiyad Mahrez - Jamie Vardys goals have dried up and hes been the one that has stepped up. If theres a man to make the difference in a tight game then hes the number one contender.Shane Long - Hes the man that can cause problems with his movement and Robert Huth and Wes Morgan wont enjoy playing against him. Leicester will have to go out and chase the win that will make for space for Long to get in behind.NGolo Kante - Hes having a magnificent season and making a mockery of the fact very few people had even heard of him at the start of the season, even scoring for France - the cheek of him! The way he gets around the park is like having an extra man in midfield. NGolo Kante scored on his France debut against Russia Steven Davis - Im a big fan of his as hes very underrated and always does a goood job.dddddddddddd Hell complete plenty of passes and create chances.Robert Huth - Leicester have three clean sheets on the bounce but Ive got him in there more for his goals than his clean sheets. A lot of defenders go up for set-pieces because their managers tell them to but this guy always looks a threat. Marc Albrighton - He takes corners and free-kicks so hes going to create plenty of chances and has been another one of the unsung heroes of the season. Its ridiculous to think Aston Villa let him go! Marc Albrighton has flourished at Leicester after struggling at Aston Villa Le Tiss VIGraziano Pelle - Hes rediscover his scoring touch with three goals in his last two games and Im backing him to net again on Sunday.Shinji Okazaki - Im loading my team with attacking players because I think its going to be a high-scoring game. Okazaki obviously has not been as prolific as others but hes still got a few goals this season and creates chances.Virgil van Dijk - Im not expecting us to keep a clean sheet but hes a real threat to score from a set-pieces. With three goals this season, Scott Dann is the only defender to have scored more. Virgil van Dijk has impressed in his first season at Southampton NGolo Kante - Hes one of the stars of the season and hes got to be a solid pick, making plenty of passes, tackles and interceptions.Shane Long - His pace is going to be key to hitting Leicester on the counter-attack, where we know we can really hurt them. He was also on the scoresheet for Ireland so confidence should be high.Danny Drinkwater - Talking of confidence, a man-of-the-match award on his England debut will have done Drinkwaters no harm at all. Hell probably complete more passes than any other player and should create chances as well.Who makes your VI? Pick your Sky Sports Fantasy Six-a-Side team here.
