Cam Newton has soreness but is in good spirits. Hes excited to be discharged and begin recuperating with family, the tweet read. Newton suffered two transverse process fractures in his lower back in a two- car accident Tuesday afternoon near the teams stadium. On Wednesday, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that Newton will face no charges for the accident and was traveling at the posted 35 mph when the other driver pulled out in front of him. The former No. 1 overall pick has thrown for 2,812 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, adding three rushing scores.
