snapper Hunter Bradley described an injury that he suffered in practice on Wednesday , according to beat writer Tom Silverstein.Despite that assessment, Bradley — a seventh-round draft pick in 2018 — missed practice entirely on Thursday, which is typically the team’s heaviest workload of the week. The Packers play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field, and Bradley will have just one more chance to practice this week on Saturday. With his status now officially in question for this weekend, the Packers probably need to prepare for an emergency situation. After having just two long snappers in seventeen seasons from 1998 to 2014, the Packers have gone through quite a series of players at that position over the past two years. Despite suffering a torn ACL late in the 2015 season, Brett Goode had manned the spot going back to 2008 and he returned to play every game in 2016. However, the team moved ahead with a pair of young players in the 2017 offseason, as Derek Hart and Taybor Pepper each received chances to win the job. Instead , Goode came back in training camp to take his old job back, but was injured after a few games and received an injury settlement. The Packers then signed Pepper for a few games, but he broke his foot, leading to Goode’s return for the remainder of the year. This season, Goode was allowed to walk yet again, and Bradley won a competition in camp against Zach Triner. Now, with Bradley’s status up in the air and Goode a free agent, it’s possible that the team could give him a call once again for the final four games of the season.Aside from the Packers placing Tra Carson and Kevin King on injured reserve, there was only one change in injury status from Wednesday to Thursday. That related to tight end Jimmy Graham , who was upgraded to limited from a non-participant after receiving a typical Wednesday off.Packers Thursday Practice ReportDid Not ParticipateOL Byron Bell (knee)LS Hunter Bradley (ankle)OT Bryan Bulaga (knee/illness)S Raven Greene (ankle)Limited ParticipationCB Bashaud Breeland (groin)S Kentrell Brice (ankle/concussion)WR Randall Cobb (hamstring)TE Jimmy Graham (knee/thumb)OLB Clay Matthews (ankle)G Lane Taylor (foot)Full ParticipationOT David Bakhtiari (knee)QB Aaron Rodgers (knee)WR Equanimeous St. Brown (elbow) Brian Gutekunst continues to draft athletic and versatile players." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhiteAcme Packing Companya Green Bay Packers communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpFanpostsFanshotsSectionsPackersOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareShareKingsley Keke’s versatility continues a trend for the Packers in the 2019 DraftChuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsBrian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers definitely have a type. They drafted Texas A&M defensive lineman Kingsley Keke in the fifth round of the draft on Saturday, and Keke brings the common theme of athleticism and versatility to a stout defensive front.Keke ran the 40 in 4.95 in Indianapolis this year, not bad at all for someone who is measured in at 6’3 and 288 pounds at the Combine. He also ran a 7.55 cone drill and 4.46 20 yard shuttle. While he doesn’t have a great pass rush, he does have a quick initial step that will help getting off the ball and creating contact to read and react at the NFL level. As for his versatility, Keke can play anywhere on the defensive line and makes sacrifices for the team to do so. While he started out as an interior defensive linemen at TAMU, he dropped 20 pounds and moved to end when injuries limited the team. After being drafted he discussed the move with the press in a conference call: “The coaches wanted me to do it because our starting end got hurt in the preseason. He kind of told me, and I did it for the team ... we had a solid 3-tech but we didn’t have a solid end out there.” He has gained a little weight from the combine and also addresses where he sees a good fit for himself, “I’m weighing right now 293, but most comfortable (weight) depends what they see me as. If they want me to play 3-tech , probably 300, 295, I might just stay here. I’ve been at 330, 325 (when I played nose tackle), I’ve been at 290. My most comfortable would probably be at 300, 295.”Keke brings a team-first attitude and more athleticism to team that desperately needs it. While he will be a rotational player to start, if his work ethic matches his attitude, he could wind up being a great value pick for the Packers as he adapts to the NFL. |
