LONDON - Two goals from Sergio Aguero earned Manchester City a point as it twice came from behind in a 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in the Premier League on Saturday.QPR started the game on the front foot, putting pressure on the City players in torrential rain whenever they were in possession in an attempt to force mistakes. And striker Charlie Austin had two goals ruled out before giving QPR the lead in the 21st minute. Austins first was rightly disallowed for offside, as was the second, albeit in unusual circumstances.City goalkeeper Joe Hart took the resultant free kick from Austins offside strike, but accidentally kicked the ball twice. The ball landed at Austins feet and he controlled and scored, but referee Mike Dean disallowed it as rules state players cant have two successive touches from a free kick.Hart then denied Austin excellently from eight yards, before Austin finally struck. He controlled a smart delivery from Mauricio Isla on the right before swiveling and firing across Hart into the far corner. It was a deserved lead for Harry Redknapps side, but the goal sparked City into stepping up its intensity, and the visitors levelled 11 minutes later through Aguero. He controlled a long pass from Eliaquim Mangala superbly and weaved into space across Steven Caulker before clinically beating QPR goalkeeper Robert Green. The ball appeared to hit Agueros arm as he kept it under control, but the goal stood. But while Aguero was spearheading Citys charge, Austin was leading QPRs attack just as dangerously in a relentless display of attacking football from both sides. And Austin was the creator as QPR hauled itself back into the lead in the 76th.Eduardo Vargas beat Yaya Toure to possession in midfield and picked out Austin, who burst down the right before whipping the ball toward his strike partner Bobby Zamora. Martin Demichelis jostled in front of Zamora and made contact with the ball, but only managed to divert it into his own net.But City nearly levelled through Aguero a minute later. He had a shot cleared off the line by former City defender Richard Dunne after the Argentina striker pounced upon a woefully short headed back pass from Joey Barton, before taking the ball around Green.QPR didnt accept the warning sings, instead looking to increase its advantage in the 80th, when Vargas brilliant acrobatic kick bounced narrowly wide.City poured forward looking to equalize, and it arrived in the 83rd. Aguero controlled a pass from Toure, rounded Green yet again and fired in for his 12th goal of the season, with four QPR defenders on the line trying to block his effort.QPR striker Austin admitted after that he was frustrated at not taking all three points from the game.Tonight, we have come off the pitch disappointed at not winning against the champions, Austin said, while Zamora acknowledged his team was unfortunate. It is a big point against a very good team. It would have been a great scalp, Zamora said.Redknapp also believed his team would hold on.I really felt at 2-1 we would go on and win the game, the manager said. When we went 1-0 up, we were well on top and they scored against the run of play. You cant relax when they have got so many quality players in the team.City manager Manuel Pellegrini praised Agueros performance, adding he felt his team is in an unlucky moment.Aguero had all of the QPR defence in trouble whenever he had the ball, Pellegrini said. Again, this team demonstrates we are fighting. We are not playing very well, but had enough chances to win the game. . Ive said it before, Ive worked with top pros and I could have made my own program. . Although taking two of three from the Baltimore Orioles wasnt nearly as uplifting as winning the World Series, it still felt pretty darn good. Felix Doubront and four relievers combined kept Baltimores potent lineup in check, and David Ortiz had three of Bostons 12 hits off Wei-Yin Chen in a 4-3 victory Thursday night. https://www.chinacheapjerseys.net/ken-p ... sey-store/. Carey Price made 27 saves for Montreal (30-21-6) for his fourth shutout of the year and second in four games. David Desharnais added an empty netter for the Canadiens. Reto Berra stopped 25 shots for Calgary (21-28-7). .Patterson marked his anniversary by proving his worth — once again.Lou Williams poured in 26 points, and Patterson drained two huge three-pointers late in the fourth quarter, as the Raptors topped the Denver Nuggets 112-107 in overtime Monday. . - The Cleveland Indians will place centerfielder Michael Bourn on the disabled list before their opener at Oakland on March 31. CHONBURI, Thailand -- Anna Nordqvist made two late bogeys at the rainy LPGA Thailand, leaving her a stroke ahead Friday after the second round. The Swede shot an even-par 72 to remain 6 under. Germanys Sandra Gal, Paraguays Julieta Granada and Spains Azahara Munoz were tied for second. The players got a break from the usual hot, humid conditions, with the temperature only reaching the 70s the first two days at Siam Country Club. "I think we all expected it to be warmer," said Nordqvist, also a stroke ahead Thursday after opening with a 66. "Today with a little bit of rain and overcast it felt like I still had a lot of the energy leaving the 18th green." Nordqvist bogeyed Nos. 16 and 18. She had three birdies and three bogeys. "There were some tough pins out there," Nordqvist said. "A lot of them were on ridges, and I felt like I hit a lot of good shots and kept spinning off the ridges. Not much you can do. Felt like I hit it solid. A little disappointed to finish with a bogey on the last. "Overall, been hitting it great. Today, I felt like all things were good. Just couldnt get any putts to drop." The 26-year-old Nordqvist is winless since the 2009 LPGA Championship. "This is a position I been practicing to be in," Nordqvist said. "Halfway through and there are 36 more holes, but Im happy with the way Im playing. Hopefully, can make a couple more putts over the weekend and that should take care of it." Munoz and Grranada shot 68, and Gal had a 70.dddddddddddd Granada had a bogey-free round. "I holed out twice with lob shots, so that was nice," Granada said. "It was very welcome." Gal had three birdies and a bogey. "I didnt change my game plan, but it was just playing longer," Gal said. "Some of the pins were quite tough today, tucked in corners where you usually you just would go for the middle of the green. And then on top of that, you would have maybe one or two putts more because you just dont get any roll." Americans Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie were 4 under. The third-ranked Lewis had seven birdies and four bogeys in a 69. Wie shot 73. Light showers in the morning left the greens and fairways softer than usual. "Just had the rain to start and just changed the way the golf course played," Lewis said. "Kind of took me a couple holes to adjust to that. Once I did, I hit some good shots. You just had to be a lot more aggressive, fly back to holes we normally cant do that. Just played completely different than it ever has. ... "There were a lot of back pins today, so it was hard to get the ball to stay up on those back shelves and get yourself to fly them all the way back there." Top-ranked Inbee Park, the defending champion who is making her first start of the year, was 2 under after a 71. Second-ranked Suzann Pettersen and No. 4 Lydia Ko also were 2 under. Pettersen had a 73 and the 16-year-old Ko shot 70. ' ' ' |
