Misfortune has already struck four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Jamie Whincup at Mount Panorama on Sunday. Not that the pole sitter was complaining too much.In fact, Holdens Whincup could only see the funny side when he took part in a parade honouring motorsport great Peter Brock on Sunday...and his car broke down.Sundays Great Race is honouring the 10th anniversary of record nine-time winner Brocks death. Before the race, Whincup was one of the Bathurst winners of the past decade given the honour of driving some of Brocks most famous cars around the track. It was a moving parade - its just that Whincup wasnt moving for long.He was all smiles behind the wheel of Brocks 1969 Monaro.Unfortunately, it didnt make it to the summit of the mountain Brock had conquered so many times, stopping before The Cutting. He could be seen laughing as fellow Bathurst winner Mark Skaife gave him a cheeky wave as he passed in Brocks winning 1975 Torana.Whincup didnt get back in time for the pre-race track ceremony honouring the drivers who had received the winners Peter Brock Trophy that was first handed out 10 years ago.Its a great opportunity to be able to drive one of Peters cars, its a massive day already and that (parade) is going to add to the day, Whincup said. Its the biggest race of the year, the 10th anniversary of the great man we all owe so much to in the sport.Brocks protege, Holden driver Craig Lowndes, was the most emotional after driving his mentors 1972 Torana - the car that notched Bathurst win No.1 for the late great.Six-time Great Race winner Lowndes drove the same car at Bathurst 10 years ago as a tribute, one month after Brocks death. It brought back a lot of memories, especially going across the top of the mountain, Lowndes said.It doesnt matter if youre a Ford or Holden lover, going across there today the crowd was standing and cheering and it was an amazing feeling. The tributes kept flowing for Brock with the packed crowd providing a standing ovation on lap five of the Bathurst 1000, honouring his famous 05 racing number.Brocks brother Phil will present the winners trophy named after the motorsport great. He also presented the inaugural Peter Brock Trophy in 2006.To me handing over the trophy is like Peter saying well done, Phil Brock said. . -- If Henry Burris has his way, he will be the starting quarterback to lead the Hamilton Tiger-Cats back to the Grey Cup next year. . "I wrote 36 on my sheet at the beginning of the game," the Cincinnati coach said, referring the yard line the ball would need to be snapped from. . Capitals head coach Adam Oates said Ovechkin was injured in the first period against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday and clarified it was not a head injury. . John Lucas, signed as a mentor for rookie Trey Burke, showed he can score if required, scoring 12 points of his 16 points in the second quarter as Utah built an 18-point lead. . The 18-year-old American had five birdies in her bogey-free round for a 17-under total of 196. Lee held the overnight lead but mixed three birdies with two bogeys for a 70. Nicola Adams is set to turn professional before Christmas after being left out of the Great Britain squad for the European Championships in Bulgaria later this month. The 34-year-old double Olympic champion is currently locked in talks with promoters in both Britain and the U.S. and while a deal is yet to be struck, a decision is believed to be imminent.Adams has been given time off from the Great Britain squad since claiming her second gold medal in Rio this summer and is not among the seven-strong team for tournament which starts next Monday.GB performance director Rob McCracken told PA Sport: Nicola is currently having a look at all her options and what is available to her, and that includes professional boxing.Shes the double Olympic champion and she deserves time to make up her mind. It would be great to keep on the programme and I am sure she could go to Tokyo in 2020 if she had the motivation. But when you have won two gold medals the motivation could be a factor and my gut feeling is she will probably look at those other options and give professional boxing a go.If Adams does decide to turn professional she will join fellow Olympic champions Claressa Shields andd Katie Taylor, both of whom have declared their intention to quit the amateur ranks since Rio.ddddddddddddUnder new eligibility criteria, Adams could conceivably turn professional then re-commit to th
